Get to know Queenscliffe’s Climate Emergency Response Plan!

Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale are already being affected by the impacts of climate change. We face an increasing risk from coastal inundation, sea level rise and bushfires. As a community, we know we need to act now which is why we have worked together on creating an ambitious local climate emergency response plan to protect our community and the special places we love.

Our ultimate aim is to become a zero carbon community by 2031.

Our plan contains 49 actions under 8 pillars. Some actions are specifically related to Council, many others rely on us to implement changes at home, at work, to the way we travel and how we look after our incredible natural environment that we are lucky enough to call home.

2022 Victorian State Election Climate Questionnaire for Candidates

We wanted to provide all candidates running for the Bellarine District in the November 2022 Victorian election with the chance to highlight their position on some key issues affecting our environment. All candidates were contacted to participate, but not all replied. So, before you hit the polling booths this November, have a look at how our candidate’s responded to the questions.

2022 Federal Election Climate Questionnaire for Candidates

Queenscliffe Climate Action Now is proud to be a member of the Corangamite Climate Alliance - a collective of grassroots community organisations who are all fiercely advocating for a safe climate future for our communities.

In March 2022, in anticipation of the calling of the federal election, the Alliance hosted the Climate Change Response Forum as an opportunity for Corangamite constituents to gain insight into each federal election candidate’s position on the subject. Prior to the forum, each participant was provided with the following set of questions, with an eye to helping voters create an informed decision. All candidates were asked to participate, but not all replied.

2020 Local Council Election Climate Questionnaire for Candidates

We invited candidates in the 2020 Borough of Queenscliffe election to respond to a series of questions on climate action.

We are not ranking or rating candidates, we are simply communicating their responses so you can inform your vote.
